Hi! I'm Angela, the founder of Bruha.

I grew up Filipino American in the San Francisco Bay Area, often feeling caught between cultures, expectations, and the parts of myself I was told to hide. That tension pushed me toward creative expression. And eventually, toward building the world of Bruha.

In Filipino culture, a bruha is a witch: a woman with spiritual powers, ancient wisdom, and a connection to magic and the unseen world. She's often misunderstood, existing outside the norm. That resonated with me. I didn't fit neatly into one box, and I always felt connected to what I couldn't always see. I was learning that was my power.

I fell in love with art early on. Painting, drawing, and anything hands-on became my outlet. Studying graphic design deepened that passion, and I was fortunate enough to build a creative career where my work and passion overlapped. But I always felt a divide between "work" me and "real" me, like I didn't quite belong in the traditional design world, which often drained my energy. Later on, those tensions fueled my growth.

Durring my travels in 2015, everything shifted. I moved to Berlin, and the city's mix of cultures pushed me to explore beyond industry norms and discover my niche. I built a design agency, grew as an artist, and found a community of creatives to collaborate with. I experimented with watercolor, pottery, jewelry making, and 3D art. The divide between work and play started to dissolve. That period of creative freedom planted the first seeds of Bruha. It connected me closer to the spirit world, but I didn't fully understand what I was feeling.

In 2020, I moved back to California and decided to turn my passions into a business. I fell in love with plants, which inspired the earliest version of Bruha—selling plants, pottery, and small home decor at pop-ups and markets. I met incredible people, collaborated with other artists, and experimented with a retail shop, workshops, and music events. Througout those years I started learning more about my roots and why I felt so connected to the other realm. The more I read about the Filipino spiritual world, the more everything started making sense.

By 2026, my vision started to crystallize. I wanted to connect deeper to my Filipino spiritual roots through art, and jewelry felt like the perfect vessel: it combined design, symbolism, and my cultures history in one meaningful piece. Bruha evolved into a brand focused on intentional jewelry and Filipino spirituality. Everything we create is made with purpose, and made to be shared.

Bruha is for anyone who's ever felt like they didn't fit the mold, and grew up knowing the unseen was real. For the ones who embrace their intuition, honor their lineage, and create their own path.
